Prabowo Sends Teams Abroad to Study Hunger-Reduction Strategies

Jakarta: Indonesia will dispatch teams to India, Brazil, China, and Vietnam to study strategies for eliminating hunger.
 
“I want us to learn from other countries. There is no shame in learning how they reduced hunger,” President Prabowo Subianto said during a Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace in Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Monday, July 20, 2026.
 
The move comes amid recent criticism of the government’s programs to address hunger and poverty. Despite the backlash, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to carrying out the plans.
 
He added that the government would closely monitor fraud and smuggling practices that have undermined the programs.  
 
Prabowo also highlighted that Indonesia’s goal of achieving zero hunger aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
 
He further noted the UN’s long-standing warnings about the risks posed by food, energy, and water crises.
